The first time I entered a circus tent I felt rapture, commotion, exaltation, an immediate feeling of being at home, and it was not even time for the show, the noise of people pressing against each other and the music filling the air with deafening noises; no, it was early morning". Federico Fellini

Arriving at Chapitô, when we finally succeed in lifting our jaws dropped at the first glimpse of the esplanade, we feel immediately at home, under the circus tent.

This is an alternative world for us to discover and which allows many social, artistic and gastronomic answers, as if it were a game of matryoshkas.

The school of circus arts is at the heart of this organization's mission and it includes an important social inclusion and solidarity component. The theatre company offers a repertoire based on multidisciplinary performances based on the physical work of the actor in a collective and ongoing development process. Multidisciplinary spaces for children are often organised through artistic residencies, poetry slam competitions, a library and documentation centre focused on arts and pedagogy, several spaces used as a plastic arts gallery, dance shows, music and cabaret concerts, book launches and cycles of female clowns, like its founder, Teresa Ricou, better known by the name of its character, Teté!

Imagine that we are not attracted by this space because of its artistic and social component. Its excellent restaurant, with its gastronomy of Portuguese roots, or its bar on the terrace, if during the day you fancy a lighter meal, and the picture postcard view, make this space a must for those visiting Lisbon.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the greatest show on earth.
