Dear Guest,

If there were still secrets in Lisbon, this event would be one of them. Imagine a lakeside stage surrounded by a lushly landscaped garden on a summer night in Lisbon listening to Jazz with one of the best and most creative instrumentalists in the world.

In the 35th edition, Lisbon’s Jazz in August Festival 2018, is for the first time totally dedicated to one musician. If you think that this means a lack of diversity, you can’t be more wrong, we are talking about, John Zorn the multi-instrumentalist, indefatigable and multifaceted creator that gives life to numerous partnerships with musicians of diverse areas and also of enormous talent and that they guess will also play with him in the magnificent open-air amphitheater of the Gulbenkian gardens.

The Jazz in August runs from July 27 to August 5 and the concerts take place at the end of the afternoon (18:30) or even at the beginning of the night (21:30), tickets vary between 5 and 20 €, this year, the program is titled John Zorn Special Edition.

It is an opportunity to listen to musicians like Milford Graves, Marc Ribot, Mary Halvorson, Dave Douglas, Kris Davis, Craig Taborn, Ikue Mori, Trevor Dunn, Barbara Hannigan and so many other names that are regularly featured in their publisher editions, Tzadik.

Would you join me?
