Street market where a little of everything and anything can be bought and sold: books, records, clothes, paintings and curios. Although best known as a second-hand market you can also find there new items. Open on Tuesdays and Saturdays only, we recommend that you go in the early morning.

Pastéis de Belém

The manufacturing of the Pastéis de Belém custard tarts started in 1837, using an old and secret monks’ recipe that has remained unchanged to this day, being known exclusively by the pastry master chefs that produce them artisanly.

In the heart of Chiado and close to the ruins of the Convento do Carmo, you will find TOPO Chiado, a terrace with one of the most magnificent views of the city of Lisbon. With a second entrance across the Elevador de Santa Justa, TOPO Chiado features an eclectic cultural programme that changes every day, and includes outdoor movies.

A Padaria Portuguesa LAB

Padaria Portuguesa has more than 50 bakeries across greater Lisbon, all of them offering several kinds of freshly baked bread and pastries throughout the day, of excellent value for money. The Padaria Portuguesa LAB is a showcase of live experiences and a quality ramp-up store for the brand, where the great bet is on long fermentation bread, made with mother dough.

National Tile Museum

Fairs and Markets

Tiles are a very particular art form that differentiates Portuguese culture. The Museum is housed in the old Monastery of Madre de Deus, founded in 1509, which is really worth a visit.

Schedule: Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 6pm

Jerónimos Monastery


UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983. A remarkable work of architecture, it is deeply rooted in Portuguese culture and identity and, with its intricately ornamented façade, it is perhaps the most significant monument in the Manueline style (Portuguese Gothic). The monastery is carved with maritime elements, symbols of the art of navigation and a reference to the Era of the Discoveries. It hosts the tombs of Vasco da Gama, Luís Vaz de Camões, Alexandre Herculano, Fernando Pessoa, among other famous Portuguese people.

Quinta da Regaleira
